About Janet
Janet Ruth Ware, age 76, passed away on May 7th, 2025. Janet is survived by her husband of 51 years, James Ware, three children, brothers David Greenfield, Howard Greenfield, Joseph Greenfield and sister Sara Summiel in addition to multiple nieces and nephews. Janet was the 2nd oldest of 6 children, and she is predeceased by her twin brother James Greenfield Jr. She is also predeceased by her parents, James Greenfield and Thelma Greenfield.
Janet grew up in Bordentown, NJ and graduated from Bordentown Regional High School. She then took classes in computer data entry at the Philadelphia Computer Institute and worked as a Computer Keypunch Operator for McGraw Hill Publishing Co. in Hightstown, New Jersey.
She married the love of her life, James Ware in 1974. Soon after, they moved to San Diego, CA. For years they remained on the west coast, living at times in Vancouver, WA and Wheeler AFB, HI but ultimately bought a home and settled in Spring Valley, CA.
She was a devoted mother to – Jerome (wife Tanzania), Fakisha (husband Matt Hemmingson), and James Jr. She was blessed with 9 loving grandchildren. She eventually settled in a career in retail sales where she worked at the Navy Exchange for nearly 25 years.
Janet was a caring woman and devoted Christian. She was a longtime member of the Word of Life Worship Center church in La Mesa, CA. Her generosity extended to friends, fellow churchgoers, and several charities.
A memorial service will be held at 9:30 am Tuesday, June 10, at the Word of Life Worship Center in La Mesa, CA (8705 Echo Drive), where Janet was an active long-time member, serving in the church choir and nursery/children’s ministry.
